This year, the students of the Jazz performance Master at Conservatorium Maastricht present their original compositions, which they have been preparing over the last months in two projects.
The instrumental project features an eclectic lineup, creating an intriguing and unusual band sound led by a violin and a trombone combined with effects. Backed up by a double rhythm section with keyboards, synths, and electric guitars, this melange of musicians defies strict stylistic boundaries. The music of the group’s composers explores contemporary harmony and rhythm, while always locking down a steady groove.
The choir project boasts 10 singers who demonstrate their versatility in sound – taking you on a journey from the banks of the Maas to a fictional country in the Far East, wooing you with a soulful love ballad and finally tucking you in with a lullaby. The choir is not left to their own (excellent) devices, with a 6 part rhythm section complementing them effortlessly everywhere between bossa, swing, rock and contemporary R‘n‘B.
Come and enjoy an exciting combination of fresh music, young talent, and the broad spectrum of contemporary jazz-influenced music!
