A soulful evening full of stories and wonderful music from Dusty Springfield to Marvin Gaye and from Aretha Franklin to Otis Redding.
In the dazzling performance A Tribute to the Soul of the 60’s, Marjon van Iwaarden (2unlimited Two, Flairck, The Voice Of Holland) takes you to the United States in the turbulent 1960s. Using beautiful, funny, moving and sometimes harrowing stories also echo all the monuments of the soul of that time.
After a theater performance with music by Tina Turner translated into Dutch, Van Iwaarden dives into soul music from the 60s. Marjon tells beautiful, but sometimes also less beautiful stories about the origin of soul music and the protagonists in it. Together with her band, which has been expanded with a horn section especially for this performance, she interprets the music from that time that inspired so many.
Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles, Sam & Dave, Wilson Pickett and many more. Vocalists Marjon van Iwaarden and Spencer Croes, together with the 6-piece backing band, bring beautiful ballads, funky songs and the great soul classics from the sixties.
