The great talents in Maastricht for three days!
As young as he is, cellist Anton Mecht Spronk has already been showered with prestigious prizes. He is also no stranger to renowned concert halls such as Carnegie Hall. Since 2016, he has even had his own international festival: Eggenfelden Klassisch in Germany, of which he is the artistic director. It was therefore no great surprise that the jury reported: “He is lord and master of his instrument, like a tightrope walker that does not waver.” Concertgoers will be captivated on the edge of their seats, while Spronk never lets them go with his folkloric and temperamental pieces.
Jury quote:
Cello beast Anton Mecht Spronk is master of his instrument, like a tightrope walker who does not waver. It has a beautiful full tone and an enormous ease of play. His playing has an impact from the first note, he grabs you by the throat!’
