A moving gesamtkunstwerk.
The Ukrainian National Opera & Ballet from Odessa experienced the world premiere of a unique Carmina Burana by Carl Orff just before the Russian invasion. The performance was halted due to the war. But now the company is picking up the thread again and the 130 musicians and dancers are fortunately also coming to Heerlen with this beautiful performance, in which Orff’s music comes together with images in a modern setting.
O Fortuna
The Ukrainian National Opera & Ballet performs the masterpiece with the haunting O Fortuna entirely according to Orff’s design. The performance is a gesamtkunstwerk in which music, images and light come together in a moving experience. What is extra special is that the work is performed by top artists from severely affected war zones. Wherever this performance of Carmina Burana is staged, the performance is sold out and a wave of emotion goes through the hall.
