In Standard, the world is turned upside down. For centuries the waltz, tango, foxtrot, and other types of dance have claimed to be the ultimate expression of the processes of civilization. CocoonDance challenges this perception on the dance floor to pave the way for new, revolutionary, experimental dance forms.
In the dance performance Standard, CocoonDance present their own vision on ballroom dance. Choreographer Rafaele Giovanolavan transforms the dancers into unknown, alien-like bodies with a new, unique body language. Using hand and feet, they explore the contradictions that characterise ballroom dance, creating a new independent type of movement and physicality.
