Theater is back. With the very first act: Dewolff!
“Stronger than ever and very tight”, wrote bluesmagazine.nl about Wolffpack. The guys from DeWolff couldn’t wait any longer and organized the release of their latest album in February this year. With the single Half Of Your Love – you imagine yourself on the dance floor in a disco in the seventies – they had another hit. Saturday 5 June the Geleen blues rock band will come to Heerlen for an unparalleled concert in our RABOzaal.
DeWolff played at Pinkpop, Lowlands, Down the Rabbit Hole, but also at Sziget (HUN), Reeperbahn (DE) and Arezzo Wave (IT). The men have been touring Europe as headliners for years. Their previous album Tascam Tapes the band recorded during their last European tour; from the back seat of the tour bus and in backstages and gas stations along Europe’s highways. The album was recorded entirely on a 1980s 4-track Tascam cassette recorder; without Hammond, drums and guitar amps but using only portable instruments and drum samples from old, obscure soul and funk records. The result is a hip-shakin’ mind-bogglin’ dimension, somewhere between the Beastie Boys, Beck and Deep Purple. DeWolff like you’ve never heard them before.

DeWolff’s 8th album Wolffpack was also created in a special way during. Due to corona, the ideas for songs were exchanged via a WhatsApp group. Guest musicians such as Judy Blank, Dawn Brothers, Broken Brass and Wolfmothers Ian Peres played along via Zoom meetings. And the fans were also allowed to participate and express their preferences. De Wolff’s characteristic rock sound with raw guitars, full-fat Hammond organs and banging drums is back on this album. But this time with a soulful and even disco edge. That’s swinging.

Robin Piso and the brothers Luka and Pablo van de Poel are some of the most passionate, energetic and virtuoso musicians of the moment. Pablo is even a two-time #1 guitarist in the Netherlands. Together they have played over 1000 shows and preach their explosive mix of blues rock with a touch of soul and psychedelia. They don’t just make music, they breathe music.
