Duckrace Maastricht
It could not take place for two years because of corona, but on June 26, 2022 it will be back: the Duckrace. The rubber duck race in the Jeker will then be held for the seventh time. This time the proceeds will go to the Wigwam Foundation and the Limburg Children’s Research Fund.
During the event in the city park, people can adopt a rubber duck, which then competes with other ducks for first place in a race on the Jeker.
Initiator De Ronde Tafel 172 can organize this seventh edition with the cooperation of Nh1816 Verzekeringen, a national, cooperative insurer. Both the Wigwam Foundation and the Limburg Children’s Research Fund are pleasantly surprised that they have been chosen as a charity by the organizer of the event – Round Table 172.

Children’s research fund Limburg raises funds for medical scientific research from the Pediatrics Department within Maastricht UMC+. More than 5,000 children from all over Limburg are treated each year in the children’s ward of Maastricht UMC+. With research into new additional treatment methods, the organization can contribute to a carefree future to grow up happy and healthy.
The Wigwam Foundation organizes care holidays at various locations in the Netherlands for families with a child with a (severe multiple) disability, as well as separate youth weeks for young people with a disability. Every year many hundreds of volunteers are needed to organize the Wigwam holidays. But the special formula also entails relatively high costs. The continued existence of the foundation therefore remains dependent on financial support from funds, companies and private individuals.
Two years ago, the Duckrace raised 40,174 euros. The ducks are now for sale via the website.
