Dulce Pontes has been at the forefront of Portuguese music for over 30 years. During her performance in Heerlen, the grande dame of Portuguese music will present a mix of fado, flamenco and salsa and songs by iconic composers such as Elis Regina and Ennio Morricone. Accompanied by her top band, including the brilliant Portuguese guitarist Luis Guerreiro and the Cuban bassist Yelsy Heredia.

Anyone who has heard Dulce Pontes sing knows what an incredibly beautiful and powerful voice she has. The New York Times wrote of her performance: “When Dulce Pontes started a song with the words “meu amor” (‘my love) at Carnegie Hall on Thursday night, she flooded them with emotion: longing, seductiveness, bravado, desperation, strength .”

In her performances she crosses every musical boundary: from fado to Portuguese folklore, Piazzola’s tango and Arabic music. She has collaborated with top musicians from all angles and genres, including Andrea Bocelli and the aforementioned Ennio Morricone. The press praised her as the successor to Fado queen Amalia Rodrigues.
