Eva Yerbabuena, the “grand lady” of contemporary flamenco dance, is coming back to the Netherlands.
She makes her first appearance at the Flamenco Biennial with her newest show Cuentos de Azúcar, where flamenco enters into dialogue with traditional music from Japan. Around Eva’s magnetic dance personality, flamenco singing blends through the breathtaking voice of Anna Sato with the shima uta, the ancient hymns of the Amami islands. Japanese Taiko drums, flamenco rhythms and Eve’s footwork provide an impressive percussive “battle”.
In the context of the Flamenco Biennial Intermezzo Series, in collaboration with Flamenco Biennial Netherlands.
