On November 13th 2020 at 20:00, Conservatorium Maastricht will premiere the finalists of its latest edition of a new award: AIM, the Award for Innovation in Music.
What could music of the future sound like? In which directions will societies and audiences develop? What role will music and musicians play and how can they become even more relevant?
Five students of Conservatorium Maastricht have qualified to provide their versions of an answer through an innovative award in itself.
It is at Conservatorium Maastricht that a generation of future musicians and music educators are shaped. AIM stimulates students of Conservatorium Maastricht to invent new approaches to music performance. Endowed with €5000,- generously donated by Cecile Maas and René Rousseau, it is an opportunity for students of Conservatorium Maastricht to expand the traditional boundaries of music performance practice.
The five finalists, who happen to be all of five different nations, have worked out five original pieces and performances. This evening will premiere these five pieces. Do you want to get to know the finalists? Take a look on our social media this week, where the finalists will be revealed.
The motto of this year is “Contact!” It is highly influenced by the current challenges performers are facing due to Corona. All performances related to this theme in their own, original way.
The event on November 13 is Corona-proof. It will be streamed via Youtube and can be watched from home.
