Gordon Smith

Gordon Smith

A ´Muziekcafe on Tuesday´ event.

Gordon Smith is from Scotland and lived in London in the heyday of Paul McCartney and Phil Collins. At the end of the seventies he chose to continue his life in Limburg and for years we have enjoyed a pedigree musician who established his name alongside the aforementioned world names in pop music.

Gordon plays with two old hands in the business: on drums Hans Keuls (Rick Nolov Band, Rolling Beatles) and bass veteran Simon Roelofs (Cooder Connection, Nur Deutsche Welle, Broodnodig)!

Gordon has a world voice, catchy, appealing, lived through and “great musical”. His guitar playing is good old fashioned and is not inferior to the Hank Marvins, the Mike Rutherfords and the Mark Knopflers of this world. Especially the combination between voice and guitar accompaniment is exceptionally good. A blessing for the enthusiast and the layman, appealing virtuoso, original accessible. And then his versatility as a composer. Own songs with a rare accessibility roll off his lips and fingertips with an unusual simplicity.

That is the reason that Gordon has a loyal following to himself, but also that all generations know how to appreciate his music.

This performance is made possible in part by: Pop in Limburg and the Prins Bernhard Cultuurfonds.
