19:00 – 21:00 DJANGO
The film tells the story of Belgian-born French Sinti guitarist Django Reinhardt. In 1943 Django finds himself in occupied France and although the Nazis persecuted the gypsies during World War II, they leave him alone and even ask him to perform in Berlin. Instead of taking up the offer, he decides to flee to Switzerland. In the meantime, he spends his time in Savoie and Haute-Savoie, more specifically in Thonon-les-Bains.
9 pm – 11 pm THE ROSENBERGS (MASTERS OF SWING)
Johnny Rosenberg, Mozes Rosenberg and Sani van Mullem form the new talented young generation of the Rosenberg family. The Rosenbergs came together from their Sinti background and have been playing guitar with each other every day since childhood. Their roots lie with Django Reinhardt. The Rosenbergs understand the art of editing songs in such a way that attractive, refreshing, contemporary Gipsy Jazz with Spanish influences is created.
In addition to the well-known Hot Club de France repertoire, they give their own swing to classics from Gershwin to virtuoso arrangements by greats such as Charles Aznavour and Frank Sinatra. Surprising is the vocal contribution of gifted jazz singer Johnny Rosenberg with his repertoire from the Great American Songbook. With their albums “Obsession” and “Masters of Swing” The Rosenbergs prove that they are now among the absolute world leaders in their genre.
Moses Rosenberg
The virtuoso lead guitarist of the trio is Stochelo Rosenberg’s youngest brother, Mozes. From his famous brother and great example, he learned the intricacies of the trade at an early age. As a boy he met Paco de Lucia and attended a masterclass by Joe Zawinul. He is now one of the most famous guitar soloists in the world and is a much sought-after guest musician, among others with The Rosenberg Trio in the Family Tour.
Johnny Rosenberg
Johnny is a very gifted rhythm guitarist and singer. He also started playing the guitar at an early age and has caused a furore with Jimmy Rosenberg in the Gipsy Kids and Sinti. They supported James Brown and Mariah Carrey, among others. He has already performed at international festivals in England, the Czech Republic, Hungary (Sziget), Sweden, Austria, France, Germany, Canada, America (Carnegie Hall New York).
Sani van Mullem
The rhythm section is completed by the fantastically virtuoso bassist Sani van Mullem. One of the very best and fastest bass players the Rosenbergs have ever welcomed into their musical family. He gained theater fame with the Gipsy Boys and pianist Jan Vayne. His bass parts are phenomenal and that can be heard on the album ‘Ready ‘n Able’ with Stochelo and Mozes Rosenberg. That resulted in a tour through France with about thirty performances.
