A virtuoso and moving total theater filled with heartbreak, revenge, and deception.
Verdi’s opera Il Trovatore is one of the great classics of the operatic oeuvre. Opera as it should be: a grand spectacle full of drama, suspense, love, revenge, deception, and death. The story tells the story of the troubadour Manrico and Count Luna. They are both in love with the beautiful Leonora. A dark secret connects Manrico and Luna, but only at the very end does Manrico’s supposed mother, the gypsy Azucena, reveal what that secret is. The outcome is tragic.
The Odessa Opera from Ukraine presents Giuseppe Verdi’s opera in four acts with 120 soloists, chorus singers, and orchestral musicians. And with the world-famous gypsy choir.
Il Trovatore is sung in Italian with Dutch surtitles.
