Lucinda Childs, the “queen of minimal dance”, will be eighty in June 2020. Reason for Introdans to pay her homage with the Icon program. The bond between Childs and Introdans is special: Introdans is the only Dutch company that is allowed to perform its work.
The American choreographer creates the most complex masterpieces in an abstract, almost mathematical way with relatively simple movements. Such as Kilar from 2013, in which dance enters into an ingenious interaction with the Piano Concerto by (film) composer Wojciech Kilar. Or Canto Ostinato, which Childs made for Introdans in 2015. A work that, despite its deceptive simplicity, demands the utmost from the dancers. Further on the program is: Concerto, the “cleansing beautiful” (NRC) Chairman Dances and Petricor, Child’s youngest creation from 2018, to music by Ludovico Einaudi.
“This special homage to Lucinda Childs with five of her masterpieces is an experience not to be missed.”
