Isabelle Beernaert knows how to touch the hearts of the audience with her choreographies. She is an unique choreographer, capable of translating the daily activities into an extraordinary choreography. The audience is able to recognize themselves into that portrayed on stage.
In a period when we were suddenly no longer allowed to touch each other and had to keep our distance from each other, the phenomenon of skin hunger arose among many people. A desire to hold, hug or caress each other. A craving for the cuddle hormone Oxytocin. During this period of quarantines and social distancing, the new performance OXYTOCIN by choreographer Isabelle Beernaert was also created.
Every person needs oxytocin in daily life to be happy. The lack of this substance had a physical repercussion for many people. Isabelle uses dance to show her observations about how we have dealt with these feelings by showing old fears and new feelings in the form of dance.
An empty white, sterile space, music that grabs you by the throat from the first second and six dancers celebrating life, led by a wonderfully beautiful choreography: OXYTOCIN has become a light performance that shows us that the world is not as dark as we often think. You just have to want to see it. And feel.
