‘Sometimes a few words can mean a lot’ is the starting point of the richly varied Vox by the instrumental duo Rozemond & Bekkers. In the vocalise, also called vox, the pure sound coming from one or two vowels plays a central role: agile and associative communication. Furthermore, the meaning of words is also of strong importance in this inspiring programme with a partly Jewish background.
With a collage of compositions by Rachmaninov, Händel, De Falla, Fischer, Podgaits and Gubaidulina, Jacobien Rozemond and Renée Bekkers do not only guarantee a perfect balance between classical and innovation, but also a titillating journey of discovery through the possibilities of their instruments.
