The godfather of Belgian jazz, an icon who has collaborated with just about all the big stars on earth, is said to have celebrated his 100th birthday this year.
With great respect and love for Toots, Jef Neve (piano) and Teus Nobel (trumpet, flugelhorn), who have been traveling together all over the world for many years, are working on his repertoire in a duo collaboration. Expect a selection from the jazz but also the cinematic repertoire of Baron Thielemans, interspersed with beautiful stories about Neve & Nobel’s own experiences with Toots.
Line up:
Jef Neve – Piano
Teus Nobel – Trumpet, flugelhorn
Dada remembers Justin
October 21 would have been the 33rd birthday of double bassist Justin van Uum. That is why tonight the unconventional quartet Dada Dölüm will perform their own work, which Justin helped shape at the time.
Dada Dölüm is led by trombonist Tim Daemen. Rooted in 50s and 60s jazz, the quartet brings together a mix of swirling styles into a seamless mess.
Line up:
Tim Daemen – Trombone
Lennart Baerts – Tenor saxophone
Martijn Vanbuel – Double bass
Achim Bill – Drums
