Oleg Fateev (MD) & Simone Sou (BR)

A passionate blend of two musical worlds

Bayan player Oleg Fateev and percussionist Simone Sou met during Festival Mundial. They played with the Ethel String Quartet and artists such as Brazilian composer Chico Cesar and guitarist Badi Assad. In PLT, we see Fateev and Sou as a duo. Together, they play a unique blend of Afro-Brazilian percussion with Balkan and world beats, or as they call it themselves: a mysterious sound dance with percuteria (percussion combined with drums), bayan (Russian button accordion) rhythms, melodies, and vocals.

Simone Sou
Brazilian drummer and percussionist Simone Sou draws inspiration from traditional world rhythms to compose her own contemporary music. Traveling the world with various projects, she has gathered a global musical background. In her home country of Brazil, she is an inspiring example for a new generation of women in music and young musicians. Simone has played in well-known Brazilian groups. Oleg Fateev

Oleg, born in Moldova, is a Bayan player, composer, and singer. He graduated from the Gnesin Music Academy in Moscow in 1993. In 1996, he moved to the Netherlands. His musical background is based on classical, folk, jazz, and world music.
