The dynamism of techno music merges with explosive dance
In OCD LOVE (2015), Love Chapter 2 (2017) and Chapter 3 (2019), the Israeli choreographer duo Sharon Eyal – Gai Behar focuses on the matters of the heart. After parts 1 and 2, part 3 of this fascinating trilogy can also be seen during the summer edition of schrit_tmacher.
OCD LOVE was about the fringes of love – love can be so sad. In Chapter 2, Eyal showed the hard work, sometimes walking on tiptoe. Chapter 3: The Brutal Journey of the Heart (2019) completes the triptych and shows a sensual sequel in Eyal’s well-known energetic style.
Little Life
For this third part, Eyal was inspired by the bestseller Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara: “…things get broken, and sometimes they get repaired, and in most cases, you realize that no matter what gets damaged, life rearranges itself to compensate for your loss, sometimes wonderfully.”
In the performance, the dynamism of Behar’s techno music merges with the utmost precision with Eyal’s explosive dance. With this contemporary performance, the duo penetrates to the core, the heartbeat of our time and society. The nine dancers form a group that contrasts with the individual. Sexuality versus gender neutrality. Archaic types versus hip clubbers. The powerful, sensual dance is enhanced by the special costumes of Maria Grazia Chiuri, chief designer at Dior.
