Inspired by the comforting cantatas by Johann Sebastian Bach, choreographer Patricia van Deutekom presents la despedida (the moment of saying goodbye), a contemporary requiem with a strong autobiographical angle.

la despedida can be seen in everything that exists. There are countless situations in which saying goodbye plays a role. The farewell to the day, a journey that is coming to an end, a phase of life that is suddenly no more, loved ones who disappear and the giving up of desires, hopes and dreams. A performance about the finite and the infinite. About winning and losing, saving and being upset, carrying and being carried. About the power of the mind that takes over when the body gives up. About light, love, letting go. A new beginning.
