Created over 20 years ago by trumpeter Laurent Blondiau, Mâäk has become a versatile collective with international ramifications. Today, the Mâäk Quintet is still one of the most avant-garde jazz groups in Belgium.

Whether in the street or in a concert hall, acoustic or amplified, for a crowd of people or in an intimate circle… Mâäk is synonymous with vitality, dynamism and musical freedom. Always within a clearly defined framework, the music of the quintet sounds at the same time refined, fascinating, magnetic or sensual.

Even after 20 years of musical adventures, the Mâäk collective is still surprisingly surprising. Musicians are in constant search of new sonic, rhythmic and harmonic possibilities. The compositions – which can range from duet to tutti – are spontaneous and improvised, but also orchestrated.
