What do you get when you mix soul, panache and a crystal-clear voice? Answer: Meskerem Mees. This great 21-year-old lady takes you to the heart and won’t let go. With her intriguing voice, her acoustic guitar and her sidekick Febe’s cello alone, she makes her layered and carefully structured texts a real treat for the ears. Once you’ve heard them, you can’t forget their melodies and refrains. 

His first single conquered the airwaves and hearts in 2020, in Belgium and far beyond. Few titles have indeed crossed borders as easily as Joe. The bar was immediately set high, but the following title Seasons Shift confirms what everyone feels: it is here to stay. 

On October 18, 2020, Meskerem Mees added his name to Humo’s Rock Rally’s legendary track record. “We could have designated another winner, during another edition, but it was essential in 2020”, underlined the jury. 

On November 5, he will also discover his long-awaited first album, in a more than probably impeccable production by Koen Gisen. Those who are already familiar with Meskerem know that the result will be timelessly beautiful. The few people who do not yet know it now also know it. 

ORIANA IKOMO

Oriana Ikomo is a musician/performer from Brussels. After looking for her own sound in various projects (oa Revue, Ana Diaz…) and studying jazz singing at the conservatory of Ghent, she recently started in music under the name of Oriana Ikomo. His first single “YOU” and his strong visual identity were immediately picked up by the famous platform NOWNESS. She mainly draws her inspiration from Jazz, Soul, R&B and electronic music. As a result, she gets a unique and full dreamy sound that accompanies her warm voice.
