Metropole Orkest Big Band plays Quincy Jones

This autumn, the Metropole Orkest Big Band will once again pay a full evening tribute to one of the greatest musical legends of our time: Quincy Jones. This evening the band presents its very best big band compositions and arrangements from the years 1956 to 1963.

Quincy Jones started his career as a trumpet player but soon started working as a composer, arranger, band leader and producer. During his splendid career, Jones recorded nearly 3,000 songs and 300 albums, made 51 film and television soundtracks, and was nominated for a Grammy 80 times, winning 28 of them. Some of the greatest albums of all time are to his credit, such as “Thriller” and “Bad” by Michael Jackson. Although Quincy Jones’ music is widely available on a wide variety of albums, live performances have rarely been heard since the 1960s.

The Metropole Orkest Big Band is happy to change that. In Parkstad Limburg Theaters they play classics from the big band repertoire such as “The Birth of a Band!”, “Stockholm Sweetening”, “Boody Rumble”, “Moanin” “and” Soul Bossa Nova “.
