Starting the new season, MosaVoce is presenting “Il Respiro degli Angeli”, a series of concerts located in beautiful venues and churches in the area of Limburg.
Our concert tour begins with 4 concerts in the city of Maastricht in Cellebroederskapel, a “hidden” gothic chapel of the early 16th century nearby the city center!
The title is inspired by the main piece in our program “Messa a Tre Voci d’Uomo'” by Monsignor Lorenzo Perosi. Perosi (1872-1956) was an Italian composer of sacred music and served at the post of Maestro Perpetuo della Capella Sistina (Perpetual Conductor if the Sistine Choir) in Rome. He kept this position for more than 50years until his death and his compositions are estimated to be around 3000-4000! He was highly admired by his contemporaries in the musical world such as Puccini, Mascagni, Debussy, Massenet, Toscanini and many others. Puccini is quoted once saying that “There is more music in Perosi’s head than in mine and Mascagni’s together”.
The rest of our program includes solo pieces for male voices by Mascagni, Händel, Fauré and others, as well as organ solos.
