The musical “Moulin Rouge” comes exclusively to Cologne from October 18th. The award-winning Broadway success can be seen as a permanent open-end production at the Musical Dome.
“Moulin Rouge! The Musical” brings Baz Luhrmann’s 2001 film classic (starring Nicole Kidman, Ewan McGregor and Richard Roxburgh) to the stage and invites the audience to immerse themselves in wicked Paris at the turn of the century. The show was produced in German exclusively for Cologne – making it the world’s first non-English language production of the musical.
For the play, the entire Musical Dome was converted into the iconic red windmill and now shines in new splendor somewhere between nightclub, theater and dance hall. At 20 million euros, it is even the most expensive production by Mehr-BB Entertainment in the cathedral city to date. “We are writing a whole new chapter in the history of the Musical Dome,” promises managing director and producer Maik Klokow.
