Choreographer Roshanak Morrowatian of the Maastricht dance company Rover will be artist in residence at PLT in 2023. In the week from 1 to 5 May, she will work with five performers at PLT Heerlen on her latest performance: House of Strength. It will premiere on May 28 and 29, 2023 at the CaDance festival in The Hague and can also be seen in PLT Heerlen on October 25, 2023.

After a series of impressive solos, such as Polished and Kites, Roshanak Morrowatian presents her first group work with House of Strength. House of Strength is a spiritual, physical and musical performance that celebrates the versatility of man. A performance about the power of connection, inspired by an ancient Persian tradition.

About Roshanak Morrowatian
Roshanak Morrowatian (Iran, 1989) is a choreographer, dancer and actress. After obtaining her BA in dance and an MA in dance composition at the Folkwang University of the Arts (D), she has appeared in the work of Marina Abramović, Pina Bausch, Isabelle Beernaert, Alexis Blake and Joost Vrouenraets, among others.

The desire for a more harmonious society runs like a red thread through the performances of Morrowatian and her dance company Rover. Unnoticed details, invisible people and forgotten stories take center stage in her choreographies. She received the BNG Bank Dance Prize together with Mami Izumi for the performance Polished and in 2020 she received the Prize of the Dutch Dance Festival.

From 2023, Morrowatian will be artist in residence at ICK Dans Amsterdam/Artist Space and Parkstad Limburg Theaters and she will be part of the ‘New Makers Scheme’ of the Performing Arts Fund NL. In this two-year process she is supported by ICK, Korzo, VIA ZUID, PLT and DOX.
