‘Blissful are those who bear suffering, for they will be consoled’ the full choir sings after the calm descending melody has resolved. And what better consolation that the heartfelt music of Johannes Brahms’ beautiful Ein deutsches Requiem.
No requiem aims to complain about the dead, but instead to help the living mourn and to console them. Together with the renowned Groot Omroepkoor and two top solists from England, lead conductor Duncan Ward brings this consoling music. Besides this, before the break, Mahler’s symphonic poem Totenfeier and Lili Boulanger’s sounds of an old Bhuddistic prayer will be performed. Be submerged in a wealthy, symphonic bath of hope, peace and moving.
