Brahms’ four symphonies are among the most beloved orchestral repertoire. They express the whole range of human emotions as one breathing symphonic cosmos. Schönberg arranged Brahms’ Piano Quartet to create a ‘Fifth Symphony of Brahms’. The splashing tempo of this work blends excellently with Liszt’s blood-curdling ‘Dance of Death’ and Kodály’s swirling dances. Jun Märkl and piano soloist Anika Vavić have had a special musical friendship for years. No wonder Märkl immediately nominated her when Philzuid asked him for this concert.
