The search for connection starts with taking the first step.
Are our worlds really that different? Or do we have more in common than thought? That question is central to the autobiographical performance REMLA. Redouan Ait Chitt and Denden Karadeniz are both known in the world of hip hop and breaking. In REMLA the dancers, driven by music from the Amsterdam Andalusian Orchestra, look for connection. That search starts by taking a first step, with their roots as a starting point.
Injury
REMLA was supposed to be shown in Heerlen in 2022, but during the premiere in De Meervaart in February 2022, Redo suffered a serious injury. As a result, the rest of the tour had to be canceled. He has now fully recovered and we are pleased that this performance is still coming to Heerlen.
Redo and Denden
Internationally renowned breakdancer Redo Ait Chitt won De Zwaan in 2019 for ‘most impressive dance performance’. In 2020 he received a royal award for encouraging many young people and people with disabilities to take up dancing. Denden Karadeniz is known for TV programs such as The Ultimate Dance Battle, So You Think You Can Dance and Time to Dance. He is also artistic director of the urban contemporary dance company Zero Dance Company.
Amsterdam Andalusian Orchestra
The Amsterdam Andalusian Orchestra (AAO) performs from Granada to Baghdad and has several successful theater productions to its name, including ZIEL | ROUH, Jihad of Love and How I Got Talent for Life.
