In Nimbus choreographer Sooraj Subramaniam is looking for a hybrid dance language where he takes the harmony and elegance of classical Indian dance styles and the mixes it with the abstract and spontaneity of modern dance. Sooraj depicts the human capacity to dream in this solo. From everyday fantasies to existential life expectations and the inner conflicts that go with them.
In Pallavi Subramaniam explores the range of the Odissi-dance language with five Indian dancers. Via modern methods he brakes the classic East-Indian dance style open and he presents it in a new contemporary context. In Sanskrit the word ‘Pallavi’ means nascent or captivating. Subramaniam looks at this work like a seed that blooms and grows into an ecosystem.
