In 2016, Patrick Leveaux of Classicall Productions happened to be invited to Hangzhou at the G20 Summit where he was lucky enough to witness a scene from “Swan Lake on the Water”. He was deeply impressed when he was able to meet the team behind the production thanks to an interpreter and to see with his own eyes how incredibly complicated such a production is.
It took two years of research and difficult negotiations to obtain the agreement of the prestigious association of the Opera of Eastern Ukraine, member of Opera Europe, to launch the first version of “Swan Lake on the Water”.The soloists were difficult to convince at first. It was the first time they had to dance in water and it posed several physical risks. But the efforts were successful, and the formation so formed is undoubtedly among the best in the world.
Charmed by the project, the most talented European companies, Aquatic show for the water features and Dirty Monitor for the computer animation, partnered with the French choreographer Johan Nus for this new adventure.
Without losing any of its greatness, water bowls, fountains, water walls and projections ensure that this ballet classic evolves into a restrained modernity where spectacular acts and intimate, vulnerable moments alternate.
And it is in Belgium that this great adventure will start at the end of 2019, followed by South and North America and then return to Europe via Spain and Portugal, after which the grand final will take place in Paris in 2020!
A dazzling spectacle!
