Violinist and composer Eugène Ysaÿe and his younger colleague Guillaume Lekeu, both Belgians of Wallonian origin, wrote the most beautiful music for each other. It is this music that inspires violinist Sylvia Huang and pianist Éliane Reyes to create an elegant and feminine sophisticated program of great beauty. The duo first introduces you to some of Ysaÿe’s newly discovered musical gems, including the youth works Concertmazurka and the great Concert Waltz. They play the sublime sonata for piano and violin by Guillaume Lekeu. The ladies know this duo sonata pre-eminently, because they have had access to the original score, which is located in Verviers. Hence their unique affinity with this composition.
