PROMENADE FROM MUSORGSKY’S PAINTING EXHIBITION
Now a tradition, the TEFAF concert at the time of the famous TEFAF art fair in Maastricht. Last year, the well-known solo harpist Anneleen Lenaerts excelled in the St. Janskerk, this year the South Netherlands Philharmonic takes over under the direction of conductor Eduardo Strausser.
On Wednesday evening, March 15, this orchestra will play the appropriate Promenade from Musorgsky’s Painting Exhibition, again in the atmospheric and acoustically excellent St. Janskerk on the Vrijthof. Violinist Christina Büttner accompanies SALLY Dance Company Maastricht in a Duet for violin and dancers that they also performed during the King’s Day concert. In a monologue by Jibbe Willems, actor and director Michel Sluysmans brings All the People Become Brothers. And finally, the South Netherlands Philharmonic will perform Beethoven’s Seventh Symphony. Famous from the movie The King’s Speech and labeled by Wagner as ‘the apotheosis of the dance’.
The TEFAF concert is organized by Chapeau Magazine. With the cooperation of the South Netherlands Philharmonic, Toneelgroep Maastricht, SALLY Dansgezelschap Maastricht and Theater aan het Vrijthof and made possible in part by the Foundation for Culture and Business Maastricht.
