Tales of power, intrigue, skulduggery and murder from London’s most famous building.
For nearly a thousand years the Tower of London has been part of the life of London. It has been a Fortress, Royal Palace, armoury, prison, royal menagerie, mint, storehouse, observatory, torture chamber and place of execution. It has seen scenes of pageantry and finery, and scenes of great evil too.
On this Virtual Tour delivered by Zoom, Rob will tell you some of the tales from the Tower of London – from famous prisoners like Anne Boleyn to less well known ones like Ludovico Hurwitz-y-Zender a German spy shot in the Tower in World War One. You’ll hear about the animals that made the Tower home from the unfortunate elephant to the famous raven’s. And hear what life was like working for a medieval king.
The virtual tour features pictures from the Tower of London, including close up’s of prisoners graffiti and the armour of King Henry VIII. There will be chance to ask Rob questions at the end of the tour.
