Waylon with 7 piece band and a story to be told!
‘My heroes have always been cowboys’, the connoisseur derives from this sentence the start of the Outlaw movement by Waylon Jennings. The Netherlands has its own Waylon. And Waylon enters the theater for the first time with his personal story. A story that has been bubbling in him for a long time and is finally allowed to get out in the form it deserves: with music in the theater.
The story that starts with an 8-year-old boy who was allowed to go with his parents to a Country evening because the babysitter was sick. A trivial moment that was followed by a big reaction. “The West Virginian Railroad Band played on stage and I got to play a little drumming. Afterwards I got my hands on a CD and the announcement that if I could fully drum along 1 song, I could go back on stage three weeks later. For three weeks I practiced until bleeding on a shuffle. Actually, that’s where my real physical love for country started…”
What followed was a career that cut through a very personal story. A story that originated in the love for the Country and the desire to experience what was being sung about. Writing and understanding his own country biography. Experience the songs that proved therapeutic for him and still are with Waylon. A wonderful musical journey along Mount Rushmore where he is in the beautiful company of his fellow rebels. Departing from Texas, Bakersfield, Memphis and Apeldoorn, they meet in Nashville, which fits for 1 evening in a theater. Waylon with 7-strong band (including pedal steel
guitar) and a story to be told!
(Lasso course not included)
