Shared history Euregion can be heard through sound artwork!

A sound artwork, consisting of a collection of spoken messages, is the impressive result of a special project in the Euregion. This project, called Terra Mosana, studies the history of the Euregion (the area between Maastricht, Liège, Aachen, Beringen, Jülich, Leopoldsburg and Tongeren). During this project, the dialects, languages and ways of speaking between the present and the past are bundled in a special sound artwork. This sound artwork presents the shared cultural heritage of the Euregion.

Participants from all regions

Residents of the Euregion were invited last February to show us the wealth of languages and dialects they speak. Many have responded to this call. Participants translated, recorded and sent to us seven sentences in their own languages or dialects depicting the proposed shared history of the Euregion.

Sound artwork

All the messages have been incorporated into a sound artwork. This sound artwork takes everyone to a multilingual journey through the many languages and dialects spoken in the Euregion. It shows how many dialects and languages are part of this European border area.
