Frank Steijns (André Rieu Orchestra) is celebrating 25 years of the city carillonneur in Heerlen, with ten anniversary concerts that do take place in August. Musical guests include the youngest carillon player in the world.

Concerts from the church tower are allowed to continue, because there is enough space in the adjacent squares in Heerlen’s city center to attend them. The public can sit safely on the terraces of the catering establishments or listen while standing from the squares: de Bongerd, Pancratiusplein and Wilhelminaplein. The 1.5 meter distance limit can be guaranteed in this way.

Today’s performance Glück Auf, Carboniferous! Singer / guitarist Rim Steijvers & flute player Iris van Cleef.

The songs of the legendary LP Witste Nog, Koempel … is familiar to almost every Limburger. Those coal-black tones ring out on the bronze-green bells of Heerlen (donated to the city by the former State Mines). Never before has this music been performed in such a setting!

Flutist Iris van Cleef, together with Rim Steijvers (son of Henk Steijvers, who was part of the original studio formation Carboniferous), performed their interpretation during the Year of the Mines in 2015 at the Mama’s Pride Festival.
Now 5 years later they bring a real world first with Frank Steijns! The Carboniferous songs resound in combination with the carillon of the mining city of Heerlen. A musical greeting to all miners.
