Frank Steijns (André Rieu Orchestra) is celebrating 25 years of the city carillonneur in Heerlen, with ten anniversary concerts that do take place in August. Musical guests include the youngest carillon player in the world.

Concerts from the church tower are allowed to continue, because there is enough space in the adjacent squares in Heerlen’s city center to attend them. The public can sit safely on the terraces of the catering establishments or listen while standing from the squares: de Bongerd, Pancratiusplein and Wilhelminaplein. The 1.5 meter distance limit can be guaranteed in this way.

Today’s performance is Jazz Around The Clock – Tamara Hoekwater (vocals) & Pieter Vermeulen (guitar) – ex Volumia!

Tamara Hoekwater and Pieter Vermeulen bring jazz standards and more. Think of Cry me A River of Manhattan. They transform the Pancratiusplein, the Bongerd and the Wilhelminaplein into a large sultry jazz club. Heerlen’s city center is the place to be.

The Tamara Hoekwater Quartet normally plays every first Friday of the month in the Amsterdam Academic Club and unlocks a wonderful repertoire of their own and classical jazz songs. Pieter Vermeulen plays in the Cooder Connection and with Nur Deutsche Welle. Pieter has also been a guitar teacher at the Heerlen music school in Schunck for the past 25 years. Now Tamara Hoekwater is also exploring new ways with him and the city carillonneur Frank Steijns, also celebrating his anniversary. Let yourself be surprised!
