Brand new absurd performance

Loaded with prizes for their debut, the energetic duo with elastic bodies, the French Eijkel, returns to Heerlen with Subtropique. A brand new absurdist performance in which a reflection of the world is sketched within the walls of a surreal subtropical swimming paradise.

In Subtropique, the French Eijkel presents an exotic society full of uncertain birds of paradise, tropical inflatable fruit, nationalistic lifeguards, philosophical gymnasts and folding cocktail umbrellas. A musical theater evening in which crazy dance moves and brilliant parodies are alternated with aromas of eucalyptus, chlorine and patchouli.

About the FRENCH EIJKEL

Sanne Franssen and Christian van Eijkelenburg, or DE FRANSSE EIJKEL, received the Jos Brink Genesius Medal in 2013 and 2014. Then in 2016 they won the audience award together at the Amsterdam Kleinkunst Festival. After their debut during the 2017-2018 theater season, they were declared the winner of the Rabo Talenten Competition with their first full-evening program.
