Joost Vrouenraets choreography | Hanna van den Berg dance
Stravinsky’s Sacre has fascinated dancer/choreographer Joost Vrouenraets throughout his career. ‘From the silence preceding the first note of the bassoon, the music creeps into my body, it doesn’t let go and takes me on a journey that always feels like the first time’, says Vrouenraets. In 2001 he danced Le sacre in the famous ballet by Maurice Béjart, in 2013 he made a version for 21 dancers for the Winspear Opera House in Dallas. In 2017 Harmonie St. Petrus en Paulus Wolder won the World Music Competition in Kerkrade with his choreography. Now he is creating a new choreography especially for Musica Sacra for the first part of Le Sacre, danced by Hanna van den Berg, who graduated in 2020 in Modern Theater Dance at the Academy of Theater and Dance in Amsterdam.
