ANTOINE WIELEMANS

We will not insult you by introducing Antoine Wielemans, the talented and inspired singer/guitarist of Girls In Hawaii with whom he recorded five albums between 2003 and 2017.

You might as well write it straight away for the fans of the melancholy Belgian formation, his solo escape with Vattetot, an astonishing first album in French entirely written, played, composed and mixed by the person concerned, in no way calls into question the future of the authors of Everest (2013) or the most recent Nocturne (2017). That said, as for everyone, there is always a moment when the syndrome of endangerment ends up pointing the nose. Questioning yourself, questioning yourself, reinventing yourself, clearing the ground, exploring… “I especially wanted, after the Nocturne tour, something new. With this old fantasy of learning the piano, and writing for myself, without the constraints and compromises inherent in the life of a band, and without knowing what was going to come out of it.
After being bathed in the sound of the Anglo-Saxon rock of Nirvana, the Pixies, Pearl Jam, or Radiohead at the beginning of Girls In Hawaii, the artist has been making a transition in his musical choices for about ten years. by immersing yourself in the work of Serge Gainsbourg while listening to the records of Mathieu Boogaerts over and over. In France, this last decade is exceptionally rich and offers a flock of artists with a singular universe, such as Bertrand Belin, Albin de la Simone, or Flavien Berger.

Written on a very specific period when the elements were as wild as they were inspiring, Antoine Wielemans offers
nine songs of formal beauty that touch the soul and the heart like so many intimate and introspective postcards on padded, airy, heady and enveloping melodies. From the lyrical “Sel”, first single released in March 2021 (with a clip by Manou Milou), to the more electro “Blanche” which concludes this soft and melancholy journey built essentially around keyboards and rhythm boxes, Vattetot evokes the doubts and questions of a 42-year-old man in a society that is increasingly tossed about, divided and insecure without sinking into misery. An album that is altogether adult and fragile, delicate and mature, stunning and sparkling, of which we are already delighted to discover the scenic version.

FEFEYE

I’m Fefeye, with my friends we make music.

I’ve had a little heartache recently. It hadn’t happened to me for a long time, you know. Suddenly, for the first time I sing in French, to better express my feelings.

Do you sing too? I don’t know anything about French song but there are some good things I think. It’s sweeter.

I sang a song to my mom she had tears in her eyes I think. There we made some nice songs you have to listen to when you have the time, if you want of course.

Anyway, big hugs and have a great day.
