The soundtrack of the sequel to The New Wilderness.
We enjoy Eric Vloeimans twice this season. The first time big with the Wild Port of Europe soundtrack and on 6 May small and intimate with the Limburg pianist Egbert Derix. In Wild Port of Europe, the trumpeter plays the music he made for the sequel to Mark Verkerk’s documentary The New Wilderness. The music supports the images, but can also excel to the fullest.

The new film Wild Port of Europe is about animals that live in the port of Rotterdam. The film shows atmospheric harbor images and catchy melodies with the animals. Music with many faces, as we know from Vloeimans. Think of a nest of baby hedgehogs, a kestrel looking for food, the migration of the natterjack toad, the polecat hunting for a rabbit… body written. In the all-rounders Jörg Brinkmann and Dirk-Peter Kölsch he found the perfect companions to shape his music.

Line up
Eric Vloeimans: trumpet/electronics
Jörg Brinkmann: cello/electronics
Dirk-Peter Kölsch: percussion/percussion
Mark Tuinstra: guitar

About the musicians
Erik Vloeimans creates original music that has earned him many awards, including five Edisons, the Boy Edgar Prize, the Bird Award, the Elly Ameling Prize, the Gouden Notenkraker and in 2020 the Edison Jazz Oeuvre Prize.

As a cellist, Jörg Brinkmann is an international concept in jazz music and because of his unique style and use of his instrument, he is a popular musician in many different companies. For example, he is known for the famous trio Oliver’s Cinema, together with trumpeter Eric Vloeimans and accordionist Tuur Florizoone.

Jazz drummer Dirk-Peter Kölsch was a member of the Mardi Gras group for a long time and worked with Ernst Reijseger, Peter Brötzmann, Herb Robertson and Matthias Schubert, among others. Nowadays he plays with different groups: Starvinsky Orkestar, Underkarl, Wurli Trio, the Quartetto Pazzo, the quartet of Jasper le Clercq and the group Undertone.

The versatile self-taught guitarist Mark Tuinstra likes jazz and free improvisation, but also African and Indian music and pop. As a result, he toured all over the world. Mark currently plays in the Nordanians and the trio FaKaTru. He also plays with the Senegalese singer Omar Ka, and with the classical/electronic/calypso-based Dr. Jordan Institute.
