At Easter, Spinvis unveiled his new album, adorned with the primal cry that accompanied the origins of rock & roll. Be-Bop-A-Lula is Spinvis’ Seventh and perhaps his best.
The pop album, preceded by the singles Lente ’22 and Paradijs, will be released on Good Friday, April 7 and will be accompanied by a club tour through the Netherlands and Belgium this fall.
“We were looking for a word that would say something about this tour. It’s about us. It’s about our time. It’s about our lives one night in space. The word is Be-bop-a-lula. “
A look at Spinvis’ kaleidoscope is never the same. And yet you immediately know who you are dealing with. In the sweat of the festival meadow, the darkness of the club, the plushness of the theater or the resonance of your own windowsill: his music brings everyone who is open to it together in the same mind. A bit melancholic, but hopeful, free and looking ahead.
Erik de Jong, aka Spinvis, has grown into one of the most idiosyncratic and versatile artists in the Dutch pop landscape in twenty years. His successful debut album from 2002 seemed difficult to follow, but he still managed to match that quality with wonderfully melancholic records such as Dagen Van Gras, Dagen Van Stro (2005), Tot Ziens, Justine Keller (2011) and Trein Vuur Dageraad (2017). ). Also his number 1 album 7.6.9.6. from 2020 made all the annual lists.
