The Man who fell from the sky

A compelling and poetic performance with dance, aerial and floor acrobatics and live music.
While everything in the universe strives for chaos, man tries to bring order again and again. We want to explain, understand. But we abolished most of the ideologies and structures that once helped us with that orientation; they were too restrictive to serve as a guideline. Now the world seems to be on fire and one crisis overshadows the next. What are we left with?

The Man who fell from the sky captures the current and collective feeling of rudderlessness and disruption. The performers seem washed up. High in the air they hang from branches of an uprooted tree and balance on moving platforms. Is this the aftermath of a disaster? The harbinger of a big change? Panama Pictures spectacularly interweaves dance, aerial and floor acrobatics in a compelling and poetic series of images about people who, without guidance or compass, must relate to an environment that is subject to change. With live music by Budy Mokoginta that drives, colors and disrupts the whole.

Sensory College
Get ready for what you will experience during the performance The Man Who Fell from the Sky (without spoilers). During the Sensory College prior to the performance, teacher Guido Jansen explains the (visual) approach of choreographer Pia Meuthen, the combination of dance and acrobatics, the own dance language – the aspects that make Panama Pictures’ performances so special and different. He also discusses the themes and strategies of the performance and gives examples of other media and makers who also worked with this. How did those makers design their works of art? And what experiences and meanings were they aiming for? Friends of PLT can attend this lecture for free.
