A triptych of masterpieces.
NDT 2 visits Heerlen with the beautiful Falling into Shadow. A triptych with masterpieces by two established names, Johan Inger and Marco Goecke. And a world premiere by the up-and-coming British choreographer Botis Seva, who was seen with his own company Far From The Norm in Theater Kerkrade during schrit_tmacher in early 2024.
Johan Inger: Walking Mad
To the rhythm of the increasingly frenzied tempo of the music, Walking Mad (2001) depicts the different phases between madness and violence. With a moving wall in the middle of the stage, Inger illustrates the boundaries we create in our relationships, in our minds and the fragile barrier between sanity and madness.
Botis Seva: Watch Ur Mouth
The expressive new work by Botis Seva, founder of the company Far From The Norm, revolves around the unconscious mind. Seva, a new voice for NDT, works within the domain of hip-hop, physical theatre and contemporary dance and continually reinvents his approach to dance and creativity. His experiments with form, structure and theatricality yield a complex and emotional movement language.
Marco Goecke: Wir sagen uns Dunkles
In Wir sagen uns Dunkles (2017), associate choreographer Marco Goecke offers a glimpse into the studio where choreographer and dancer meet and where stories emerge from indescribable energies. The work radiates a restlessness in which the body is surrendered to intoxicating vibrations reminiscent of the fluttering of butterfly wings, in which the audience experiences both a sense of unease and attraction.
