Maastricht will make an appearance in the Eurovision Song Contest! The Albanian entrant made their ‘postcard’ (a small film which precedes their performance) was filmed on the Hoge Brug and throughout the city. The short film will be shown before the song Karma by the Albanian singer Anxhela Peristeri.

There was a call last December, for unique places to be registered that could serve as a backdrop for the postcards. According to the organization, more than 750 suggestions were received. Ultimately, 39 unique locations were selected. In addition to Maastricht, images of a postcard recorded in Heerlen can also be seen.

Maastricht applied to be the host city for the contest but lost to Rotterdam.

This week, the countries involved have been competing for places in the grand final which will take place this weekend on Saturday 22nd May, so get your drinking game prepared for some costume removing/key changing/fire breathing Eurovision action!
