Bassoons for Future Festival (internationaal fagotfestival) RIETKWINTET CALEFAX

Bassoons for Future Festival (internationaal fagotfestival) RIETKWINTET CALEFAX

An imaginative program full of formless music. Throughout the ages, composers have always liked to limit themselves with complicated form structures, but freed from form principles we see music artists from a different side. No sonatas, rondos or variations, but just beautiful, freely musically associating music that carries the listener along from start to finish. Schubert’s Fantasie in f for piano four hands is for many a touchstone of pianists, and emblematic of romanticism. De Falla’s Fantasia Bætica is a colorful ode to his homeland Andalusia. Purcell’s Fantazias are small, wonderful chamber music pearls in which Purcell seems to be two centuries ahead of its time in harmonic terms.

Bassoons for Future is a dynamic, versatile and sustainable festival, a source of inspiration for everyone involved and an impulse for the development and future of the bassoon and the bassoon player.

Bassoons for Future
International Bassoon Festival
Bassoons for Future is an international Bassoon festival with renowned artists and teachers from home and abroad, workshops, competitions for amateur bassoonists and professionals, masterclasses, lectures, ensemble playing and an extensive bassoon market.

The festival is organized for and by bassoonists, from the world’s top to novice players, young and old, from baroque bassoon to contrabassoon, from far and wide and from the region. And of course for everyone who loves the bassoon, for everyone who has always wanted to get to know the bassoon better and for everyone who has never heard of the existence of the bassoon.

Reed Quintet Calefax
Calefax is a close-knit formation of five reed players who share a great passion. For thirty-five years they have maintained a reputation at home and abroad on the basis of virtuoso playing, brilliant arrangements and fresh stage presentation. They are considered the inventors of a new genre: the reed quintet. In doing so, they inspire young wind players who follow in their footsteps all over the world. Calefax is a classical ensemble with a pop mentality.
