Crystal Pite is one of the associate choreographers at Nederlands Dans Theater. In 2012 she already received a lot of praise during schrit_tmacher with Dark Matters. On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the dance festival, she and her Canadian company Kidd Pivot will return to Heerlen with the performance Revisor. An interesting detail: outside Heerlen, Revisor can only be seen in Amsterdam in our country.

Pite made Revisor with another top artist, playwright Jonathan Young. In a hybrid production on the cutting edge of – very strong – dance, theatre/comedy and visual arts and with contributions from well-known Canadian actors, we see a group of bureaucrats at work. Then the reviewer arrives. The group mistakes her for a senior official. One by one, the bureaucrats pull out all the stops to get a white foot with the senior official…

Critical dance theatre
Pite & Young based their Revisor on Nikolai Gogol’s satirical comedy of the same name from 1836. Gogol packaged his criticism in a comedy at the time, Pite & Young capture their astute critique of society, in which corruption, greed and deceit reign supreme, in the form of innovative dance theater . The two previously made Betroffenheit together; this production was awarded the Olivier Award for Best New Dance Production.
