Donker en licht PHILHARMONIE ZUIDNEDERLAND – Livestream Concert

Free

During the corona crisis, our emotions run in all directions: from sadness and worry about our loved ones to a warm feeling of domesticity and perhaps even enthusiasm about new plans for the future. This concert is all about these great contrasts.

For example, Valse Triste by the Finnish grandmaster Sibelius is about a son who is watching over the bed of his dying mother. Kabelevski’s First Cello Concerto is full of Russian melancholy. The Finnish-Dutch Jonathan Roozeman brings this gem from the cello literature with verve. He performs for the first time with a Dutch orchestra. And we are very proud of that. According to him, that “feels a bit like coming home”. The New York Times calls this 23-year-old laureate of the illustrious Tchaikovsky Competition “already proven virtuoso”! Roozeboom concludes his performance with the renowned, graceful Swan from Carnaval des animaux.

After this it is time for tingling classical with Schubert’s Fifth Symphony. In no other work is Schubert’s admiration for Mozart better expressed than in this Fifth. With the Dutch top conductor Antony Hermus on the seat, the South Netherlands Philharmonic is guaranteed to bring all Mozartian details from this masterful music to life. It is not without reason that Hermus has been named “Conductor des Jahres” three years in a row by the renowned trade magazine Opernwelt and the German newspaper Die Welt. That will be a chamber music party full of sunny playing fun!

The concert will be broadcasted via Concert in Huis. Concert in Huis is the new livestream platform of classicnl and founding partners Amsterdam Sinfonietta, philharmonie zuidnederland and Residentie Orkest The Hague. Due to the corona measures, it is by no means always possible to enjoy concerts as an audience, while many people do feel that need. We have therefore developed the Concert in Huis platform especially for you, where you can attend concerts by top Dutch orchestras live from your living room and for a small fee. Because many ensembles and orchestras are in dire straits due to the corona problems and desperately need our support, you can choose how high that fee is, € 5, € 10 or € 15.

NOTE: this livestream is broadcast in 8D audio sound. Choose this if you are listening to the concert with earphones or headphones on. You then imagine yourself in the middle of the concert hall! Do you listen through the boxes of your computer, telephone, laptop or tablet? Then choose the stream with stereo sound.
