ELISA DE WYNGAERT – Belgian fashion and music

ELISA DE WYNGAERT – Belgian fashion and music

Patti Smith is central in February-March 2020. With lectures, an exhibition and music, we honor this multi-talented musician in C-mine and the Genk library.

Music and art are important sources of inspiration for Belgian designers. Elisa De Wyngaert, curator of MoMu Fashion Museum Antwerp, talks about the close relationship between Belgian fashion, art and music. Fashion shows may take only a few minutes, but it is always labor-intensive pieces of music that are of an intensity to capture the moment and the audience. Her lecture tells the story of the close friendship and artistic synergy between Ann Demeulemeester and Patti Smith and about the unique way in which Robert Mapplethorpe’s photographic work had a major influence on Belgian fashion designers.
